Let's give 'em something to talk about.

Okay, my blog keeps disappearing and then coming back. I'm searching for a subject. What I like: nature, theater, books, anything profound, sex, the pursuit of happiness, and food, but not necessarily in that order. What I'm bored with: movie stars, gossip, bitching about men, (unless it's my own), whining, entitlement, and the relentlss pursuit of money. If you want to join me in my quest to rebalance our lives by kicking material values and living to impress others out in there proverbial butts. Then let me hear from you! Got a great recipe? Sexual technique? solution to global warming? (even a small contribution). Fantastic hike? Beautiful quote? Pithy comment? Bring it on! Love and many belly laughs, Shari.

Let's find a subject we really want to talk about!

Hi there, I'm just starting this new blog and with so many millions of blogs out there, I would love to hear what people want to know, chat about, vent, hurl, whatever. I mean, I'm a writer with a background in acting, I'm a mom with a background as a wild thing, or wild thang as we said in Atlanta. So I could write some inane crap about how I create my characters, (steal them from real life, basically) or plot, (go for long hikes or clean out a closet) or we could talk about men in fiction, or any number of topics that have been, and are being, discussed a thousand other places, but the fact is, if I, like you I'm sure, are going to spend a portion of my crazy full days doing this, I want to talk about something fun, naughty, enlightening, or humorous. So let's start the day with why people in California make such a big deal about rain. I mean, I'm from a place where rain is a weekly occurance, when it's pouring and the power is going out, you put your kids in a rain coat and take them to school anyway. Here is Southern CA, it's like, "Storm Watch!!!" Or worse yet, "Unfortunately there's a twenty percent chance of light rainfall for the weekend." this at the tale end of horrific fires fueled by two years of drought in which nearly 300,000 people have been displaced or lost their homes and businesses. Are they nuts? My favorite was at school. I was talking with one of the Expedition driving, five carat diamond wearing, 'moms' and the fires were raging, but she was upset that it might rain because she had just hired people to come and wash their cars every two weeks. And a little rain might spot her other porsche. I mean, really. Am I the only one who thinks maybe a balanced eco system is worth more than your turtle wax? Where in hell have our values gone? Perhaps that a redundant question. I'm not very political. Don't have regular television and the newspapers in L.A. and their biased, profit-grubbing, sensationalism of real human tragedy send me screaming into the back of my deepest closest, but I have eyes, and I can see what's happening. I'd like to start a program to prop people's eyes open. And now for something completely different. I'm looking for the perfect place to live and I'm open to suggestions. The forest above L.A. is pretty nice, but I'd love a place with more rain, maybe a river or a lake, land and lots of it, and neighbors who share a love of caring for each other and the place they live. Any suggestions? Remember, this is about bringing up topics you want to talk about. No porn please, there's enough sights for that, go there if that's your thang. I'm excited about this forum of connecting to countless people in countless places with such ease, let's use it well. Love and peace, Shari.
